24 Jun Lifetime Developments and Adidas Canada Announce the launch of Homecourt Advantage, collaborating on new initiative to refurbish basketball courts across Toronto
Lifetime Developments and adidas Canada are pleased to announce the launch of Homecourt Advantage, a new revitalization project that will refurbish community basketball courts, including the creation of public art, across the city of Toronto. Lifetime Developments, a renowned city builder and community leader with over four decades of experience in Toronto, and the global performance brand adidas Canada, will kick-off Homecourt Advantage’s inaugural year with the renovation and infusion of art into two beloved courts – Stanley Park and Oak Street Park.
“Giving back and enhancing the neighbourhoods in which we build is at the heart of what we do. Choosing Homecourt Advantage as our next charitable initiative felt like a natural fit for us. To bring vibrancy to the revitalized courts, Homecourt Advantage is fusing art and sport by partnering with two Canadian artists to enhance each project. Bryan Espiritu, a Toronto-born painter, product designer and graphic artist, will be focused on Stanley Park (890 King Street West, near Liberty Village) and Blake Angeconeb, an Anishinaabe woodlands artist who hails from Treaty 3 territory, will be working on Oak Street Park (165 River Street in Cabbagetown).
Over the past two years we have witnessed firsthand the disruption COVID-19 has brought to our city and we have learned so much about what our communities, specifically our youth, need as a result. Homecourt Advantage was spawned as a result of this, providing a healthy, outdoor space where youth can be active, safe and social within our community. Recognizing the growth and popularity of basketball as a sport that is accessible to all ages, background and skills, we are excited for the support the program has received from the City of Toronto, our strategic partners and our corporate sponsors.
